I developed a love of cooking in college and it's grown even stronger over the last few years. There's something about cooking that's so relaxing to me, and trying new recipes has become a great creative outlet. I typically try to cook one new recipe a week, although when life gets hectic or I'm feeling particularly exhausted it sometimes ends up being more of a biweekly thing. I find recipes through a variety of sources, but mostly using Pinterest, cooking blogs, and my collection of cookbooks. I wanted to be sure that I could link all of the recipes I'm...
THE BEST COFFEE TABLE BOOKS FOR STYLING
It's probably pretty clear by now that I have a passion for interior design, and hands down my favorite part of design is styling. Give me a good set of shelves and I can spend hours playing around and styling them fifty different ways. And with my love of styling has come a love of coffee table books. I'm a sucker for functional decor, and coffee table books are just that. They're great for anchoring smaller decorative objects and creating a cohesive look, but they're also perfect to thumb through while re-watching The Office for the 17th time.
BBQ CAULIFLOWER WINGS WITH BLUE CHEESE DIP RECIPE
It's been over 10 years since I last ate meat, so I'm finally at the point where there aren't many meat dishes that I crave. There are a few exceptions to this, though, and perhaps the biggest one is wings. I was never all that into wings when I still ate meat because I hated spicy things, but I've grown to like a little bit of spice and after marrying someone who LOVES wings I've found myself craving them anytime I smell the delicious sauce.
THE BEST OF THE TARGET SPRING HOME COLLECTION
It's no secret that, like every other basic woman, I'm obsessed with Target. However, I do not have an endless supply of money, so I've mastered the art of window shopping. My Target is close enough to walk to (I don't because there aren't sidewalks and I'm lazy, but still), so during non-quarantine times I typically go to Target at least once a week. My favorite section is definitely the home decor section, and Target's selection just keeps getting better. I love seeing product roundups from design bloggers I follow, so I thought I'd throw together one of my own.
35 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO STAY SANE RIGHT NOW
While normally I try to keep my blog content light, there's no denying that the world is in a rough place right now. It's a scary time, and it can be hard to stay positive with all that's going on. It seems like every day is filled with more bad news, and if you're doing your part then it probably looks like you're going to be cooped up inside for at least a few weeks. Even for homebodies like me, it's going to be a tough transition. I've been trying to do little things every day to keep a positive...
VEGGIE TACOS WITH AVOCADO CREMA RECIPE
Cooking has been one of my favorite hobbies for years now, but with everything that's been happening in the world lately, it's been a great stress reliever too. Since I know a lot more people will be cooking at home rather than going out to eat over the next few weeks, I'm going to do my best to share some new recipes with you all! This recipe for Veggie Tacos with Avocado Crema is a great place to start. I adapted it from a recipe I originally found on one of my favorite vegetarian cooking blogs, Cookie and Kate. If...
MY FAVORITE PURCHASES | WINTER 2020
Happy Tuesday, friends! For the second time recently - long time no see! Between work, travel, and planning for the future, life has been pretty hectic lately. But like everyone else, I've been forced to slow down over the past couple of weeks due to everything going on with COVID-19. I'm a person who actually likes going into the office, so between being cooped up at home and gaining almost 2 hours back in each weekday because I'm not commuting right now, I've felt more of an urge to be creative than I have in months. The timing just feels...
THE BEST NORTHERN VIRGINIA RESTAURANTS
Being from the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania, you could say there was a bit of a culture shock when Darian & I moved to Northern Virginia just outside DC. We're both from small towns that have the same 5 chain restaurants, so one of best parts about moving to this area has been the wide array of unique restaurants and endless food options! We are not "city people" by any means, but we're not really "country people" either - we fall somewhere in between. We quickly realized that Northern Virginia is a perfect fit for people like us. We're just...
5 EASY WAYS TO MAKE YOUR HOME FEEL LIKE FALL
Happy October, friends! Despite the fact that it's supposed to hit 90 degrees here in Northern Virginia today, I have fall on the brain. Fall is my favorite season - football is back, the trees outside are turning the prettiest shades of orange and yellow, and everything just feels cozier. However, it can be a little harder to get into the fall spirit when the temperature is above 80 well into October. So I thought I'd share some easy tips on how to make your home feel like fall (even when it doesn't feel like it outside). Read on to...
15 MINUTE SHRIMP & GRITS
Hi friends - it's been a minute! Since my last post almost two months ago (yikes) I've gotten married, traveled to Greece for the most incredible honeymoon, and settled into a new job. That's enough excuses for taking such a long hiatus from blogging, right? Anyways, my grand re-entrance to the blogosphere is coming in the form of one of my favorite simple recipes: shrimp and grits. Since moving to "the south," aka the DMV area, I've been delighted to see that the vast majority of brunch menus at the restaurants I frequent include shrimp and grits. However, I'm a...
