Happy Friday! Today was the first warm spring Friday of the year, and there’s something about days like today that makes me want to cruise around the neighborhood with my windows down playing happy music. So I thought it would be fitting to share my favorite Friday Playlist on the blog today! These songs are all perfect for starting your day off on the right foot, staying motivated and positive throughout the workday, and driving around with the windows down and your music loud. They’re the kind of songs that are catchy, upbeat, and instantly put you in a good mood. Read on for the breakdown, or skip straight to the full playlist here!
1.All These Things That I’ve Done – The Killers
This song makes me feel like I’m back in my favorite college bar drinking $5 beer pitchers and eating Suzy Wong egg rolls with my favorite people.
2. Dancing in the Moonlight – Toploader
For like the first five years after the end of Gilmore Girls, for some reason I kept thinking this was the Girlmore Girls theme song. FWIW, it’s not, but it still makes me so happy.
Literally EVERY MIKA song immediately puts me in a good mood, but this one is my favorite. So catchy and fun!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I know I’m getting married this year, but the Jonas Brothers getting back together will be hands down the best thing that happens in 2019.
I used to think John Mayer was super gross, but this music video is hilarious and he’s kinda funny on Twitter sometimes. So maybe he’s ok. IDK.
6. Everyday People – Sly & The Family Stone
This is the song that Ryan Reynolds listened to in the opening scene of the then-wildly popular feature film Definitely Maybe, which I watched approximately 300 times in high school.
*JVN voice* Honestly, who gave this song permission to be so catchy?
AJR has so many fun upbeat songs, but this one is best played at full volume on a Friday afternoon as you drive home from work.
9. Mind Your Manners (feat. Icona Pop) – Chiddy Bang
Fun fact: I once went to a Chiddy Bang concert and it was the worst concert I ever attended. This song is still a bop though.
Every time I want to listen to something upbeat that’ll get my energy up, this is the first on the list.
11. Worse Things Than Love – Timeflies ft. Natalie La Rose
Timeflies’ Just For Fun album was fire and I can’t even choose a favorite song from it, but this one is definitely one of the best.
12. I Really Like You – Carly Rae Jepsen
If you haven’t watched the music video for this song yet, DROP EVERYTHING AND WATCH IT NOW. Tom Hanks. Enough said.
13. Every Time I Look For You – Blink-182
TBH I could have put every single Blink-182 song on this playlist, but this one is my favorite to scream along to in the car.
14. Classic (feat. POWERS) – The Knocks
I heard this song in a Diet Coke commercial once and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since (and I don’t even like Diet Coke).
15. I Wanna Get Better – Bleachers
It makes me like, phsyically angry when I think about the fact that I didn’t discover Bleachers until six months ago. What was I doing with my life?!?!
16. thank u, next – Ariana Grande
Full disclosure: this is the only Ariana Grande song I really like. But I listened to it nonstop for two weeks after it came out and I’m still obsessed with it.
17. No Brainer – DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper
This song is like the second coming of I’m The One and I am HERE for it.
Honestly, the early demise of G.R.L. was one of the greatest musical tragedies of the 21st century. Also, this song is the musical equivalent of 2 espresso shots.
19. Sugar We’re Goin Down – Fall Out Boy
This song simultaneously makes me want to drive around my hometown with the windows down being angsty with my friends and rewatch every season of One Tree Hill.
20. No Problem (feat Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz) – Chance the Rapper
Chance the Rapper is *LITERALLY* the cutest human on the planet AND his songs are all amazing. This one is the most fun, so obviously it’s my favorite.
21. Boy Problems – Carly Rae Jepsen
IDK how Carly Rae makes SO many catchy songs, but I’m not complaining.
22. New Romantics – Taylor Swift
I have every single Taylor Swift on my iTunes & my phone, including ones that didn’t make it onto her albums. This one is my favorite from 1989 and it makes me feel some type of way.
23. Home – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
This song just makes me so happy. It’s also a perfect road trip song.
24. Ready to Go [Get Me Out Of My Mind] – Panic! at the Disco
Darian made fun of me in college when he found out that I still listened to Panic! at the Disco. But now it’s 2019 and they’re topping the charts again so who’s laughing now?
25. Streetcorner Symphony – Rob Thomas
Rob Thomas is my FAVE and this song is perfect for long drives on a sunny day.
26. Turn – Socratic
This song was on a mix CD one of my friends gave me in ninth grade and it’s the only Socratic song I know. But it always improves my mood so that earns it a spot on this playlist.
27. I Love You (But I Hate Your Friends) – Neon Trees
Neon Trees is one of the most underrated bands of our generation IMO. You should listen to all of their songs, but this is one of my faves.
28. Hate That You Know Me – Bleachers
This song is the epitome of everything that I love about Jack Antonoff’s sound. It’s also the song that made me realize what a huge influence he had on Taylor Swift’s 1989, which obviously made me love him even more.
29. I Want You Back – The Jackson 5
I mean, who doesn’t love the Jackson 5?
30. I’m the One (feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne) – DJ Khaled
This might be the catchiest song that ever existed.
31. Once in a While – Timeflies
Things song sounds like something that Snoopy would dance to, but in a good way.
32. Various Disgraces – The Blam
If this song sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the song that plays in the scene before Jim and Pam decide they want a real wedding in the Cafe Disco episode of The Office!
33. Uncharted – Sara Bareilles
Sara Bareilles is so talented that I honestly don’t understand how she’s real. A lot of her songs are slower, but this one is so upbeat and catchy!
This song is the ultimate throwback and it is legally required to be played at full volume with the windows down and your best friends in the back seat.
35. Never Let You Go – Third Eye Blind
Third Eye Blind is the quintissential summer Friday band. Basically all of their songs are like if a sunny, warm Friday were a song.
